The reference to right wing watchdog is interesting. It gives the story away really. The leftists have tried to keep a hold on the media so far. It is wrong to create an impression that media are controlled by people on the right. The fact is, most media are controlled, and few are really working for a common citizen. It is high time people addressed this issue.
Yes, you are right. Editors and newsmakers everywhere see that public opinion is mutated to their internal agendas. Free press, I think, is just a dream.
